NJ Motorcycle Accident Injury Claims

08.24.09

When a motorcycle rider is injured in an accident on the road, it can mean possible serious injuries that may develop into even more serious medical issues.  Because a motorcycle rider lacks the protection that a car offers– There are no seatbelts, airbags or metal chassis to protect them–  the injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on a New Jersey highway can be severe.  The number of motorcycle deaths have been rising in the recent years, more than doubling by 2007 from the fatalities recorded in 1997.
Sometimes, motorcycle riders are more prone to crash injuries since they are more inclined to ride up to excessive speeds. However, more often than not, motorcycle riders face dangerous situations because braking is less stable on a motorcycle, and riders are less visible to car drivers. Motorcycle accidents can occur when another motorist on the road does not adhere to traffic guidelines or posted speed limits. In some cases, car drivers do not take the time to look for their blind spots, often leading to a collision with the motorcycle rider.
Variables that may affect the handling of a motorcycle include debris on the road, potholes, or uneven street pavement.  Some of the dangerous road conditions for which a state government could be held liable include:
Dangerous road curves without proper warning signs
Improper drainage causing the road to become wet
Defaced or detoriated street signs or signals
Missing median barriers and guardrails
No caution markings or lack of yellow lines
Common injuries suffered when a motorcycle rider hits the road include broken bones, head injury and brain trauma.  When serious injuries occur, whether by a negligence driver or road issue, the injured rider should seek the legal counsel and advice of a New Jersey motorcycle accident lawyer.  Our lawyers are well adept with New Jersey motorcycle law to help you seek just monetary compensation on your behalf.  By speaking with a knowledgeable, legal professional, you can not only

Children Slip and Fall Injuries in Bath Tubs

08.03.09

Each year, more than 40,000 children are involved in some type of slip and fall injury in a bathtub or shower. Other associated injuries that result from children being in the bathtub are burns from hot water, drowning fatalities or near drowning experiences. This new research study published by the Pediatrics medical journal highlights the frequency of the slip and falls encountered by children under the age of 18. Researches examined the number of children injured in such accidents who required serious treatment at a New Jersey hospital.
Children under the age of 2 were held more accountable for bathtub or bathroom slip and fall injuries.  Over 60% of all bath and shower slip and fall accidents involved children between the ages of 4 and under.
When helping your child bathe, it is important to carefully watch for any slippery surfaces, or to hold onto your child in such a way that he or she does not easily fall.
Although most of the slip and fall accidents happened at home, other cases have occured in other locations such as hotels or resorts. It is a hotels’ duty to properly furnish a bathrooms’ amenities, such as a bathtub rug, so as to prevent a slip and fall accident.
Manufacturers may also need to ensure proper safety of their bathroom units, for example, by installing anti-slip grips on bathtub flooring. This may enforce higher friction on slip resistance, thereby reducing the possibility of a dangerous slip and fall.
If you or someone you know has suffered a slip and fall injury at a location such as a hotel, contact the New Jersey slip and fall lawyers of Flynn & Associates, P.C. at (800)604-8039.

A bus accident at the Newark Liberty International Airport proved fatal when a courtesy Marriot shuttle collided head on with a FedEx carrier vehicle.   The accident occured along South Service Road, resulting in one person dead and 3 others critically injured.  Eye witnesses the scene of the accident reported that the FedEx shuttle was in the wrong lane.  This lane violation caused the shuttle driver to swerve, ultimately losing control and without any time to react, the shuttle driver crashed into the incoming FedEx commercial truck.

The courtesy shuttle service transports guests on the hour from the Courtyard by Marriot to the airport.  Car accidents or tractor trailor accidents often lead to a higher frequency of injuries due to the sheer size and weight of the larger motor vehicles.   When you factor in speed, driver negligence, or poor weather conditions, the potential for property damage and/or loss of life increases significantly.

If you have been involved in a bus accident (e.g. if you were hit by a NJ Transit bus) you may be entitled to receive adequate compensation for your serious injury.  Contact the New Jersey bus accident lawyers at Flynn & Associates, P.C. to recieve a free confidential, consultation by calling toll free (800) 604-8039.
